Saxophonist Jeremy Benoit "The Real JB Saax" is a young, passionate enthusiastic jazz artist from Lafayette, Louisiana. His parents Robert Benoit Sr. and Edonia Marie Benoit pushed for his early involvement in the J. W. Faulk elementary school band. This led to him picking up the saxophone at the age 9 years old. It was the first instrument his band director gave him to try but almost immediately he became hooked. During his early years, he began playing at the Good Hope Baptist Church in Lafayette, LA where Pastor Dr. Ricky E. Carter allowed him to become part of the music ministry and his mentor Mr. Bently Senegal introduced him to Organist / Pianist Michael Sears. He also began playing with the Acadiana Ecumenical Choir where he met local saxophonist Isahia Norwood and former CBS Record executive / producer Mr. Charles Manns who began to mentor him musically. These relationships had a tremendous impact on Jeremy Benoit " The Real JB Saax " and served as setting the foundations for his career in music. Developing his musical talent became a constant in his life from that point onward. Shortly before he graduated college, " The Real JB Saax " became a proud member of the OMEGA PSI PHI Fraternity incorpated and was gifted with his very first sound system through an academic Scholarship given to him by the organization. After earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of Louisiana in the fall of 2008, and being an active part of multiple jazz combos there, he began his agressive pursuit of music.
Faith in God and the belief that every human being has been given a divine purpose to fulfill is what drives "JB Saax " forward in his musical pursuit. Inspired by the likes of Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderly, Grover Washington Jr., David Sanborn and Gerald Albright, JB Saax is breaking the cloud of the great sax players of all time. He is a very ardent yet diversified performer, often lighting up the stage with both well versed jazz licks and beautifully toned embellishments. While jazz is his main stay, he also performs a wide variety of music ranging from r&b to country, pop, soft rock and top 40. Gospel music has also played an important role in shaping his artistry, as he was heavily involved in music and ministry at his church throughout his adolescence. He has currently produced, recorded and released over 14 musical projects.
Saxophonist Jeremy Benoit launched his band in 2010 without an official name. Sheryl NED coined him "JB Saax and the BaND " when she served as Master of Ceremonies during his very first Album Release Concert event at The Cite Des Arts Theatre in Lafayette, LA. Soon after the expansion of his group, Saxophonist Jeremy Benoit "JB Saax" began performing all over Lousiana and eventually throughout the entire Southwest Region of the United States.
"JB Saax" has performed at many venues and events both public and private including Louisiana's acclaimed Festival Internationale, Patty In The Parc Music Festivals, The Lake Charles Shrimp & Jazz Festivals, Juneteenth musical Festival, and the Franklin October Fest to name a few. He's opened up shows for Gospel Recordings Artists Vickie Winans and Bishop Paul S. Morton, Rhythm and Blues / Swingout Artists Cupid and Wendel B, World Renown Jazz Violinist Regina Carter, Freddy Jackson, and the Legendary Maze and Frankie Beverly. He's performed at multiple events held at the infamous Ceaser's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada and has also put together a number of his own live performances and prodcutions. He's worked with Grammy Award winning producer / pianist Michael Lockett, Grammy Award Winning Music Educator / Saxophonist Huber Micky Smith Jr., Grammy Award Winning Zydeco Artist Reggie Dural Anthony, Grammy Nominated Queen of Creole Soul and R&B Star Connie Garrett, and the Legendary Blues hall of Famer Major Handy. He's played at The Brass Room Jazz lounge in Lafayette, Louisiana, Whiskey and Vine, The Grouse Room, Arpeggios Opelousas, Suga's Jazz Club in Beaumont, Tx, headlined Townsquare Media's Jazz Alley @ The District's concert series and presently continues to perform at a number of venues and events throughouth the country. He's started multiple music concert series for his community that has served served as platforms for local, regional and national acts in the area. An enthusiastic audience of all ages follows Saxophonist Jeremy Benoit "JB Saax" as he continues to grow in his talent and range. " The Real JB Saax " is totally dedicated to growing his musical voice on saxophonie while injecting joy into the lives of all those who listen to his music.
